TRAINING

 DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING / LEARNING

Imagine abilities. The Developmental Training Center offers the men and women of Ottawa  Friendship House the support to each pursue their highest degree of independence and
self-sufficiency. The curriculum is individually designed based on the individual’s needs. Educational  exercises in language, writing, money skills, and personal living skills are part of individualized plans.  Individuals also learn about healthy living and nutrition. Skills are taught in a nurturing and positive  environment where individuals are encouraged and can celebrate their personal accomplishments.

  RESIDENTIAL / LIVING

There is nothing quite like the feeling of being at home. For the men and women of
Ottawa Friendship House, a variety of residential services are available, depending on
each person’s individual needs and preferences. Some men and women choose to live
in on-campus homes and others within the community.
There are currently four on-campus homes for semi-independent adults that are able to
provide for many of their daily living needs. Four adults live in each home and have
the support of a resident aide who also resides on campus. For many, this can be a
 bridge to independent living.
For those men and women who live off campus, supportive services are also available
on an intermittent basis. This support helps them maintain healthy and independent
 lifestyles.
