Spring Games

Weather in early May can be quite unpredictable, but the weather man was definitely on our team this year while the 2007 Spring Games were held. A beautiful day presented itself as our athletes competed for the right to compete in the State Finals.
Hall High School in Spring Valley was the setting for the Special Olympics Track and Field events, in which 24 OFH athletes competed.  There were over 200 athletes from 23 other agencies. All were hoping for a chance to advance to the finals in Normal in June.
Thirteen athletes from Friendship House received gold medals for their efforts.  We also had 8 silver, and 4 bronze medal winners.    The gold winners represent the sports of softball throw, long jump, and the 50 yard dash.
Bocci Ball was held at LP High School in LaSalle. There were 18 Friendship athletes competing, and 200 others from throughout  district 16.  There were 10 gold winners from Friendship, who will also advance to State finals In Normal.
Altogether, 16 Friendship athletes  will advance to the State Finals at Illinois State University.   District 16 represents athletes in a 8 county area in North Central Illinois, stretching  from Henry County to Grundy County.  Athletes from Friendship House participate in a number of sports, including Basketball, Volleyball,  Track  and  Field,  and   Bocci Ball.
